
Our Mandatory Qualifications
Native Proficiency in the target language of not less that 3.0 in speaking, listening comprehension, and reading, (defined in AR 611-6, 16 Oct. 85) as demonstrated on the Defense Language Proficiency Test (DLPT), or by oral proficiency examination by a tester certified by the American Council for Teachers of Foreign Language (ACTFL).
A Bachelors degree or foreign equivalent.
Formal study of the English Language with proficiency of at least level 2.0, as measured by the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or a score of no less than 70 on the English Comprehension Level (ECL) Test.
Previous language teaching experience
Prerequisites for Attendance:
Our five day program involves three days of classroom lecture presentation with the students given homework material for study and reinforcement of the training material. The last two days consist of student participation scenario settings and with a graded practical exercise evaluation at the end of the course. Even though it is not required, students are encouraged to seek basic Spanish training videos or CDs for introductory orientation of Spanish prior to attending the course.
Brief Course Overview:
Starting with the basics, Spanish Culture
Spanish alphabet, vowels, consonants
Cardinal numbers, telling time, and months, days, & seasons
Colors, clothing descriptors, descriptors of people, and body parts
Locations, and descriptors of structures, directions of travel
Basic Grammar, Verbs, pronouns, adjectives, and cognates
Interrogatives (who, what, when, where, why, & how)
Biographical & basic information for a police report
Medical terms, Danger Situations, Drugs, weapons, and dangerous expressions
Law Enforcement Only:
-Low (investigative/consensual) to high-risk encounters/stops(gangs, felony stops)
-Commands/Warnings, Consent searches to Frisks, Apprehensions and arrests
-Miranda Rights, Biographical & basic information for a police report
-Medical terms, Danger Situations, Drugs, weapons, and dangerous expressions
